Dan Harris Sanders

Dan Harris Sanders, age 86, passed away peacefully on December 27, 2025, at NHC in Dickson. Dan was born in Detroit, Michigan, on July 25, 1939, to Harris Walker Sanders and Nora Geraldine Harris Sanders, who preceded him in death.
Dan's first years were spent in Detroit until his parents moved back to their home state of Tennessee to live on the Sanders Family farm. One of Dan's greatest joys as an adult was living on the farm he grew up on and raising his own family there. The farm was a place of purpose, peace and pride for him.
Dan was a graduating member and president of the Dickson High School Class of 1957. He went on to graduate from Tennessee Technological University in 1962 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Industrial Management. That same year he enlisted in the Air National Guard and was honorably discharged in 1968. He married Lois Ann Underhill in February of 1963, and they had two children, Scott and Angie. Dan spent the majority of his life working in the farm equipment business in addition to raising cattle and hay. He and Lois owned and operated Sanders International Inc. together for many years. Prior to retiring he worked for Dickson County Equipment. Dan was a lifelong member of Oak Avenue Church of Christ where he and Lois sat in the same pew for many years.
Dan is survived by his beloved wife of 62 years, Lois; his son, Scott Harris Sanders; his daughter, Angie Thompson (Andrew); and his grandchildren, Drew Thompson and Anna Beth Thompson.
Visitation for friends and family will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, January 2, 2026, at Dickson Funeral Home. A funeral service will begin at 2:00. Interment will be at Memorial Gardens Cemetery. In lieu of flowers please make donations in memory of Dan to the Community Foundation for Dickson County.
