Dana Dovenbarger Obituary

Dana Curtis Dovenbarger

December 28, 1951 ~ December 23, 2024

Dana Dovenbarger (Curtis), 72, passed away peacefully on December 23, 2024 in Layton, Utah from complications due to dementia. Dana was born on December 28, 1951 to Dan R. and Hazel Curtis in Salt Lake City, Utah where she also grew up. Dana had many fond memories of growing up near her cousins, whose families camped and did many things together. Dana graduated from East High School, class of 1969. Upon graduating, Dana married into the military life that would move her around the country, living coast to coast from North Carolina, Illinois, Virginia, and California. She made lifelong friendships everywhere she went and made each place a special home. Her greatest adventure during these years was starting a family, welcoming three daughters and one son. Dana had several jobs over the years, but her real career began when she started working at Hill Air Force Base in Layton, Utah. Over time, her hard work and professionalism had her working shoulder-to-shoulder with the base generals. She traveled often, mostly to the pentagon in Washington DC for many years. These years of working at HAFB planted deep roots of patriotism and love for our military. Dana retired in 2017 after 30 plus years. Dana lived a very full and busy life. She organized and calendared everything to fit in all she had to and wanted to do However, her first priority was her love Jesus Christ and her membership in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Over the years she was in many wards and held many callings such as Relief Society President and Nursery Leader and everything in-between. All of equal importance and effort to her The love of her life was her four children. She loved and supported them fiercely She was their biggest cheerleader, confidant, and best friend. As a single mom for many years, she relied on Heavenly Father to do hard things. We will miss her but it brings us comfort to know she is in the arms of our Heavenly Father again and he is glad to have her home.

She is survived by her four children: Laura (Dan) Butcher, Mindy (Todd) Stock, Paul (Alicia) Dovenbarger and Wendy (Rick) Condie. 15 grandchildren and four great grandchildren. Brother: Guy E. Curtis.

We will honor her with a viewing on Friday, January 3, 2025 from 6:00 pm to 8:00 pm at the Bountiful 7th Ward, 1250 South Main Street, Bountiful. Funeral services will be on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 11:00 am at the church, with a viewing one hour prior to the service. Dana will be laid to rest following the service at the Bountiful City Cemetery, 2224 South 200 West, Bountiful. Please share your memories with her family at www.memorialutah.com.

Dana was a loving caring soul. She was always doing thoughtful things for others in our ward. I got many sunflowers from her. She showed so much charity to others. She was very bright and accomplished a lot in her career.
