Dana French, 71, of Sugar Grove, IL passed away on Friday, September 5, 2025 with his family by his side. Dana was born on September, 25, 1953 in Geneva, IL. The son of Hannah Skelley and Wallace French. Dana was a musician, singer, songwriter and a beloved family man. Dana kept his family out of the spotlight but loved them fiercely. Dana retired from the Batavia School District last September after 10 years of service before that he worked for the Kane County Forest Preserve. While working his full-time jobs he was always a working musician, his greatest love was music, which was immense. Fishing was where he found peace and his love for nature was like no other.
He is survived by his loving wife, Chris French. He wrote and sang a song for her named “Chrissy Lee” in which told their beautiful love story of 42 years. He is also survived by his two sons, Lucas French and Milo French and daughter, Amber Boehler; grandson, Karter Mizel; granddaughter, Nayelli French; sisters, Kathy West and Janet French; and his brother, Charles Skelley.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents and parents.
