Candis Ray Larson, a beloved sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully on January 14, 2026, in Aurora, Illinois, just days shy of her 77th birthday. Born on January 20, 1949, in Sandwich, Illinois, Candis's journey through life was marked by her unwavering dedication to helping others, a passion she embraced as she began a career in social work. Her profound empathy and kindness left an indelible mark on those she served throughout her remarkable career.
Education played a significant role in Candis's life. She graduated from Sandwich High School in 1967, and her thirst for knowledge led her to Joliet Junior College, where she earned her degree in 1976. Her scholarly pursuits culminated in a bachelor's degree in family relations in 1979 at Northern Illinois University, further reflecting her commitment to understanding and nurturing familial bonds.
After retiring from her fulfilling career, Candis found joy in travel alongside her partner, David Hollenback. Together, they explored the vibrant culture and serene landscapes of Mexico, creating lasting memories during their years together. Candis and David shared a deep connection, traversing life’s journeys hand in hand.
At the heart of Candis's world were her beloved pets. She found immense happiness in the company of her cats, whose antics brought laughter and companionship into her life. Additionally, she devoted countless hours to cultivating her house plants, nurturing each one with care and affection. Her home blossomed under her tender touch, reflecting the warmth of her spirit.
Candis will be remembered fondly by her nephew, Jay Larson, who cherished the bond they shared. Her legacy carries on through the love and life lessons imparted to those who had the privilege of knowing her. Although she is preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Holly Larson, her brother, Jeff Larson, her partner, David Hollenback and their son, Jerry Hollenback, the impact of her life continues to resonate in the hearts of her family and friends.
As we bid farewell to Candis Ray Larson, we celebrate the beauty of her existence—her kindness, her intellect, and her unwavering love for both people and animals alike. She may have departed from this world, but her spirit will forever remain alive in the fond memories and stories shared by all who knew her.
