Dana McClellan Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Olpin Family Mortuary on Jan. 10, 2026.
Dana Lee Andersen McClellan, age 73, passed away at her Lehi, Utah home on January 9, 2026, after a difficult and courageous battle with cancer.

Dana was born on November 3, 1952, in Pocatello, Idaho, to Lyle and Anita Cutler Andersen. She was raised in American Falls and Sugar City, Idaho, where she developed a lifelong love for music, faith, and family.

She met her future husband, Dale R. McClellan, while attending BYU. Then, on September 7, 1973, Dana and Dale were sealed for time and all eternity in the Logan Utah Temple. Together they built a life centered on devotion to one another, their family, and the gospel of Jesus Christ.

During Dale's military service and employment with the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, Dana faithfully supported him while traveling around the country and abroad, including three years in Argentina. There she created lasting memories and deepened her love for people and culture.

Dana was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints throughout her life. She served in many callings, always with quiet dedication and love, but her favorite was as Primary Chorister, where her joy for music and children shone brightly. Teaching children about the Savior through example and song brought her immense happiness.

Dana graduated from Ricks College where her love for music continued to grow. She went on to teach piano lessons for more than 35 years, instructing hundreds of students. She took great pride in each of them and cherished watching their confidence and talents grow. Her students were a constant source of joy, and she loved them dearly.

Dana will be remembered for her gentle spirit, unwavering faith, musical talents, and deep love for her family. Her life, thoughts, and prayers were directed towards her husband, children, and grandchildren, whom she cherished, and the gospel of Jesus Christ. She was a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother whose life was a quiet testimony of Christlike service and love.

She is survived by her loving husband, Dale R. McClellan; her children Traci (Dana) Garrick, Shawn (Christina) McClellan, Devin (Tiffany) McClellan, and Mandi (Aaron) Connelly; her siblings Nicki (Jace) Mortensen and Rex (Heather) Andersen; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and she was preceded in death by her parents, Lyle and Anita Andersen.

Services are under the care and direction of Olpin Family Mortuary in Pleasant Grove, Utah. Condolences may be sent to the family at olpinmortuary.com.

We, including all of our children, love your mom! She was pure sunshine and so fun to be with. She shared her gifts with all around her, through music, kindness, a welcoming heart and being a true friend.
She taught our children to love music and was not only a piano teacher but a therapist for some of them, each week, in that short lesson time.
Dana left her mark on each of us.
May your family feel that always, until you see her again.
Love, James and Kalin Skousen and family

It was always fun providing you anesthesia! I even relented and let you fall asleep to your "boyfriend" Bon Jovi! I envy your state right now so I hope you´re having a wonderful time there!
