Our dear brother Dane Shepherd is now in heaven. He was loved and adored by thousands — super outgoing, always there for anyone who needed him, and the kind of person who left a lasting impression everywhere he went.
Dane bravely fought cancer, and through it all, he chose to keep that part of his journey private. Many know he suffered a stroke earlier this year, and some may have felt distanced during that time. Please know that was his wish — Dane didn’t want to be remembered for his illness. He wanted to be remembered for the joy, laughter, and life he brought to others. That’s who he was, and that’s how we want everyone to remember him.
A little about our brother — Dane was known to many by his countless roles and creative ventures:
DJ D8NgerUS, NightOut Salem, Capital City Entertainment, Salem Idol, I5 Entertainment, Karaoke FunClubs, GoPro DJ’s Northwest, Karaoke Winterfest, and Club Works Sound & Lighting.
He published papers for Chemeketa and local vineyards and served as Marketing Director for KOTY FM and KTCR in Washington.
Dane was a true entrepreneur — from owning limos to producing large-scale events and karaoke contests that sent winners to compete in Las Vegas. He gave back to his community year after year, working with Toys for Tots, hosting donation drives, and volunteering his DJ services for community events like Deepwood Estate’s Halloween Trunk-or-Treat.
He was a businessman, a role model, an unlicensed therapist, and a certified smart ass — his humor and heart made him unforgettable.
There are truly a million stories to tell about this man, and we invite you to share them with us as we celebrate his life.
