Daniel Ayotte Obituary
Obituary published on Legacy.com by Plainville Funeral Home - Plainville on Mar. 3, 2026.
Daniel V. Ayotte, 74, of Plantsville, passed away unexpectedly on February 26, 2026, while wintering in the warmth of his condo in Port St. Lucie, Florida, with his beloved wife of 42 years, Denise (Brousseau) Ayotte, by his side.
Born on February 22, 1952, in New Britain, he was a son of the late Gisele and Alcide Ayotte. He carried with him throughout his life the values instilled by his parents, hard work, integrity, and dedication to family.
Dan proudly served his country in the United States Air Force for four years, including a deployment to Vietnam. His service was a source of quiet pride and lifelong patriotism.
Following his military service, he built a long and respected career as a manufacturing engineer. He was known for his strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail. A true perfectionist, Dan could fix or build almost anything, skills he first learned at the side of his father and later proudly passed down to his two sons. Whether tackling a home improvement project, helping a friend, or teaching his boys how to do a job the right way, his capable hands and patient guidance left a lasting impression.
From an early age, Dan had a passion for cars. What began with building model cars as a child grew into a lifelong enthusiasm for turning wrenches that included tinkering with his cherished 1967 Pontiac Firebird and, later, his treasured Corvette. He was a proud member of the Central Connecticut Coachmen van club, where he formed lasting friendships with fellow enthusiasts.
Dan also found joy and peace in nature. He loved fishing, landscaping, and took pleasure in biking through the outdoors, and could often be found bird watching or gazing up at the night sky in quiet appreciation of astronomy. When he couldn't be outside, he could be found sitting by his record player listening to an album from his vast vinyl collection.
Above all, Dan's proudest and most cherished role was that of Pépère. He created priceless memories with his four grandsons, whom he adored beyond measure. He delighted in spoiling them, often too excited to keep a surprise to himself. Most recently, he built a train track suspended from the ceiling, spending countless joyful hours with his grandsons watching the trains roll by, blowing their whistles and shouting "CHOO CHOOOOO!" together in their conductor hats. His intricately assembled and displayed Christmas village, which he took months to create each year, was another testament to his patience, creativity, and devotion to family traditions.
Daniel will be remembered as the true embodiment of a family man-hardworking, loyal, generous, and happiest when surrounded by those he loved. His legacy lives on in the lessons he taught, the traditions he created, and the love he shared so freely.
He leaves behind his beloved wife, Denise (Brousseau) Ayotte; his two sons Sean Ayotte and his wife Olivia and Neal Ayotte and his wife Elizabeth; his four treasured grandsons Connell, Patrick, Aiden and Wesley; his sister Lisette Ayotte and her husband Richard Steben; his brother Gerald Ayotte; and his nieces and extended family and friends who will miss him dearly. He was predeceased by his sister, Rosemarie (Ayotte) Dubois.
Family and friends may gather in celebration of Dan's life on Tuesday, March 10, 2026 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. at Plainville Funeral Home, 81 Broad St, Plainville.
