Daniel Lee Bareford, 66, of Mechanicsville, Virginia, passed away peacefully in the arms of his family on Sunday, December 15, 2024. He was born and raised in Tappahannock, Virginia, the place he would always consider his true home. Danny began his career as a Henrico County Firefighter in 1984, proudly serving in the fire department for 31 years until his retirement in 2015. He also retired as a lifetime member of the Tappahannock Volunteer Fire Department after 25 years of service. He was very thankful to have been a part of the brotherhood of those he served amongst. He met his soulmate, Mary, in 1976 and married in 1978, paving the way for a long and loving 46-year marriage. He was a father to twin daughters, Lisa and Danielle, whom he adored and supported unconditionally every moment for the rest of his days. He had a love of golf, fishing, his chihuahuas, and his Harley Davidson. He valued hard work, providing for his family, and his Faith in God. His humor, kindness, generosity, and story-telling abilities will be greatly missed and truly unmatched. He was preceded in death by his mother, Dorothy Landers Bareford; his father, Andrew Jackson Bareford Sr.; his brother, Eugene Bareford; and his beloved chihuahua, Coco. He is survived by his wife of 46 years, Mary Lewis Bareford; his twin daughters, Mary Danielle Bareford and Lisa Marie Bareford; his brother, Jackson Bareford Jr.; nephews, Lee, Jack and Taylor Bareford; and his chihuahua, Yeti. The family will receive friends on Friday, December 27, 2024 from 1 to 2 p.m., at Faulkner Funeral Home, Marks-Bristow Chapel, 206 N. Church Lane, Tappahannock, Virginia, 22560. A celebration of life service will follow at 2 p.m. at the funeral home to include a special tribute from the Henrico County Fire Honor Guard. Interment will be private at a later date. A reception will immediately follow the service at the Tappahannock-Essex Volunteer Fire Department Social Hall, 620 Airport Road, Tappahannock, Virginia, 22560.
