Daniel Brauer Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Berlin Memorial Funeral Home - Kensington on Feb. 20, 2026.
Daniel A. Brauer, 75, of Berlin, Connecticut, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 2, 2026, at The Hospital of Central Connecticut – New Britain General, surrounded by loved ones.

Born March 18, 1950, in New Britain, he was the son of the late Otto Alfred Brauer and Ruth Ingeborg Dahlgren Brauer, and had been a Berlin resident for many years.

Daniel was predeceased by most of his siblings. He is lovingly remembered by his remaining sibling, along with many cousins, nieces, and nephews.

Danny served proudly in the United States Navy, traveling around the world three times during his service. His time in the Navy instilled in him a deep sense of discipline, adventure, and curiosity. He loved sharing stories from his travels, from distant lands to unique experiences on the seas, and these adventures became cherished memories that he often recounted with pride and joy.

Danny was a man of many talents and devoted many years to his work at Collins Farm, where he repaired equipment, cared for the land, and took on whatever tasks were necessary to keep the farm operating smoothly. He carried out his responsibilities with dedication and pride. Yet, what meant the most to him were the relationships he formed along the way. Whether exchanging stories, lending a listening ear, or connecting over shared experiences in the navy.

He was also predeceased by his beloved son, Michael Jason Brauer, and his cherished daughter, Shannon Marie Brauer Ireland. Danny treasured many memories of his children, and he kept numerous pictures of them around the house, always sharing stories and laughter about different moments from their lives.

He is survived by his grandson, Tyler J. Brauer Anton of Texas. Danny loved watching Tyler grow up and cherished the time they spent together. He had many pictures of Tyler around the house and often shared stories and laughed about the memories they made.

He is also survived by his longtime companion, Nicole Beaulieu; and her children Kevin Beaulieu and his son Anthony Beaulieu, Robin Beaulieu Grant and her husband Terry, and he was also survived by his special step-granddaughter Dominique Beaulieu Kirk of Cape Cod and her husband Paul; and three very cherished great-grandsons, Jameson, Keegan, and Bohdi; and Step grandson Devon Reilly. Also, he is survived by Robins 3 step children and their families.. Danny spent many years attending football, soccer, and lacrosse games, wrestling meets, cheerleading events, and school fundraisers. He delighted in cheering on the children, praising their efforts, and encouraging them to always do their best. We always looked forward to hearing what Danny had to say; his words were full of warmth, humor, and wisdom, and he had a special way of making each child feel valued and inspired.

Danny cherished his time with family and especially enjoyed crabbing with his great-grandsons and visiting Cape Cod. If you knew Danny, you know that the UCONN girls and NASCAR were his great passions; he could discuss every race, driver, and team in detail, and his enthusiasm for the sport brought him pure joy. Sharing these moments with others was one of the things that truly lit up his spirit and was a reflection of the love and excitement he carried for one of his greatest joys in life. He loved to challenge others to think outside the box, and even as he was losing his eyesight, he continued to go crabbing and spend time outdoors, embracing every moment. He kept his sense of humor and enjoyed listening to everyone around him, taking in each story and throwing out a little comment to make you think or make you laugh.

Danny and Nicole's happiest moments were spent on casino trips, crabbing outings, and making homemade pizza together at home. Thanksgiving held a special place in Danny's heart and he cherished gathering for the holiday meal.

A graveside prayer service with military honors will be held at the Connecticut State Veterans Cemetery in Middletown on March 21, 2026, at 11:00 a.m.followed by light refreshments at 1104 High Road, Berlin, Connecticut.
