Daniel Burns Obituary

DANIEL WAYNE BURNS
May 28, 1962 ˜ July 30, 2023

Daniel Wayne Burns was born in Vancouver, WA, on May 28, 1962, to Jack and Donna Burns. He passed away on July 30, 2023.
Dan grew up in Vancouver and played Little League baseball in his younger years. He graduated from Prairie High School in 1980 and attended Clark College for a short time. He played the trumpet and was active in jazz band in both high school and college.
He has a son, Nick, with his wife, Cindy; and a daughter, Brittany, from a previous marriage. They always had cats for pets and treated them like family. Dan and Cindy belonged to several bowling teams and competed locally and at some of the larger competitions in Las Vegas and Reno.
Dan had several jobs through the years. One early one was at Bower Transportation where his father, Jack, worked. He moved on from there and worked for Food Services of America in Woodburn, OR, retiring from there. He was currently working at American Stone in Vancouver.
Dan enjoyed working on all kinds of cars with his brother, Jeff. His dad, Jack, had a small 1930’s style hard top race car so encouraged them both to join him on the racing scene, and they all loved the competition (with little Nick and older sister, Brittany, cheering them on). His neighbor and good friend, Norm Royston, was there to share yard and maintenance tips or just visit and enjoy each other. He was a very talented and capable guy, always willing to lend a helping hand and could do almost anything if he set his mind to it.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy; son, Nick; and daughter, Brittany and her two daughters, Evelyn and Eleanor; sister, Jackie (Ken) Storey; half brothers, Randy (Cindy) Quinn and Jeff Quinn; stepbrother, Jeff Cary; and stepmother, Judy Burns. He was preceded in death by his father, Jack Burns; and mother, Donna Burns.
There will be a graveside service for immediate family only with a celebration of life at a later date.

I have many special memories of Dan - the Burns family birthdays, Christmas gatherings, and the friendly competition between father and son on so many race tracks.
Heartfelt sympathy to his family.
