Published by Legacy on Dec. 26, 2025.
Mr. Daniel (Dan) Nick Caputo, age 93, passed away on December 26, 2025, at Sinai Hospital. He was born on January 7, 1932, in Altoona, Pennsylvania to the late Mr. Nicholas Caputo and Lucy Spinnazzola. Dan was predeceased by his three sisters: Tootsie (Rose), Betty and Dolly.

Dan was a self-taught computer programmer. He also built computers. When he was drafted in the Army during the Korean War, he was sent to Germany as a technical specialist because of his analytical intelligence and operational skills.

When he returned home, he went on to The Johns Hopkins University where he obtained a bachelor's degree in engineering. He worked for Westinghouse and WJZTV as an electrical engineer.

He married the love of his life Nancy Lee Caputo in 1959, and they cherished 52 years together until she passed in 2011. They had two daughters and a son, Janet, Marcy and Jim. Dan was a member of the Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Glyndon, MD. Dan loved football, and cheering on his favorite team, The Pittsburgh Steelers.

Dan will be greatly missed. He leaves behind his two daughters; Janet and Marcy, his cat, his nieces; Cindy and Cathy Rutherford, along with many loving friends and family. In addition to his parents, sisters, and his wife, he was predeceased by his son James Caputo 2018, and his daughter in law Karen Holzopfel 2025.

Funeral Services are private at the request of the family; interment will take place at Lakeview Memorial Park at a later date.
