Daniel Castaneda Sr., born on December 15, 1942, passed away peacefully on January 5, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. Daniel was preceded in death by his granddaughter Charissa Gonzalez Carmona, his parents Juan and Regloria Castaneda, and his sister Gloria Lopez. He is survived by his devoted wife of 62 years, Gloria Castaneda; his children David Castaneda (Jodi Cooke), Daniel Castaneda Jr. (Lisa), and Dina Castaneda; his cherished grandchildren Nathan Castaneda, Ryan Castaneda, Mathew Castaneda, Daniel A. Castaneda, Danielle "Dani" Carmona and Meli Carmona; and his great-grandson Julian Castaneda. Daniel retired from River Ranch after more than 20 years of dedicated service. In his earlier years, he found joy in coaching Little League while raising his children and later became a proud supporter of his grandchildren's athletic pursuits, attending as many of their sporting events as possible. A lifelong Dallas Cowboy fan, Daniel enjoyed spending time outdoors in his favorite chair, savoring a cigar and visiting with neighbors. His warmth and presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him. In accordance with Daniel's wishes, no funeral services will be held. May the memory of Daniel Castaneda Sr. bring comfort to those who loved him and inspiration to all who carry forward his legacy of devotion to family and community.
