Daniel Copher Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Thompson Funeral Chapel from Mar. 7 to Mar. 8, 2022.
Daniel Patrick Copher died unexpectedly in Arizona on March 1, 2022.

He was 63 years old

Born in Alhambra, CA

Funeral services will be held at Thompson Funeral Chapel, 926 S Litchfield Road, Goodyear, AZ 85338 on Friday, March 11, with a viewing at 8:30 am and a funeral service immediately after beginning at 9:00 am. The Reverend Dr. Jeffery Gallen will be officiating. Interment will follow the service with a procession from Thompson Funeral Home immediately after the service at Sunland Memorial Park 15826 N Del Webb Blvd, Sun City, AZ. There will be a celebration of life to follow at the home of Dan and Kathy located at 4894 N. 207th Lane, Buckeye, AZ

Daniel is survived by his wife Kathryn Gimelli, his children Jessica, Jeff and Jared Copher, and his sisters, Sandy Sharpe and Jeannie Jennings and brother Donald Copher. He loved his role as grandfather to Oliver and Grant Copher, and Mackenzie, Austin and Dallas Matthias. Daniel is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, friends and relatives.

Dan attended school in El Monte, CA where he played baseball and football. After graduating high school, he worked as a motorcycle mechanic before joining the Santa Monica Fire Department in January 1981. He worked as a Fireman/Paramedic where he was highly regarded by his fellow firefighters. He was known as the computer guru who built computers for them and helped with their IT needs before retiring in 2007. Dan then entered the private sector working as a software engineer before his final retirement in 2019. He then began life as a snowbird, wintering in Arizona and summering in North Idaho. This afforded him the opportunity to golf year-round. Dan loved fishing, especially with his children and was also very artistic…he painted and created beautiful knives, was an excellent carpenter and was a genius with anything electronic.

Dan will always be remembered by family and friends as a loving husband, and father with a keen sense of humor and a dry wit.
