Douglas "Doug" Copher, a beloved husband, father, papaw, brother, and friend, passed away at his home on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at the age of 75. He was born on July 26, 1950, in Lexington, Kentucky to the late Clark Copher and Lula Mae Yarber Copher.
A graduate of Morehead State University, Doug received his bachelor's degree in industrial technology, during which he also served in the ROTC.
Doug dedicated over 15 years of his professional life to Chef America, now known as Nestle, and also proudly served as the Bath County Treasurer for 10 years.
In addition to his professional pursuits, Doug embraced the joys of life through farming, gardening, and the enjoyment of family time. He held a deep appreciation for the simple pleasures that life had to offer, particularly the bonds he forged with loved ones.
In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by six brothers, Ralph, Oscar, Louis, Whitten, JT, and Deweese Copher, as well as three sisters, Beulah Vance, Eulala Donahue, and Emma Lee Bailey. Their memory will forever remain in the hearts of those who loved him.
Doug is survived by his devoted wife of 53 years, Linda Roberts Copher; his daughter, Kim Copher Back (Shane) of Mt. Sterling; his son, Kevin Copher (Pam) of Winchester; one brother, Alton Copher of Owingsville; and five grandchildren, Lane Back, Evan Copher, Landon Back, Andrew Copher, and Easton Copher. He is also remembered fondly by many nieces and nephews who cherished his presence in their lives.
Visitation will be held at the Owingsville First Church of God in Owingsville, KY, on Monday, November 3, 2025, from 5:00 PM until 8:00 PM.
The funeral service will take place at the same location on Tuesday, November 4, 2025, at 11:00 AM, with Rev. Lowell Rice, Associate Pastor, Shawn Tolle and Youth Pastor, Alison Copher officiating.
Burial will follow at the Owingsville Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions are suggested to the Owingsville First Church of God.
Pallbearers include Lane and Landon Back, Evan, Andrew, Easton, Chad and Ebony Copher.
Honorary Pallbearers include Werner Liegel, Sam Copher, Tim Bailey, Jimmy Roberts and Kerry Pergram.
