Daniel “Dan” Sandy Elliott, age 82, of York Haven, died on Tuesday, January 21, 2025. Dan was born on Saturday, July 25, 1942, in Hershey to the late Irvin Earl Elliott and Mabel Kathleen (Sandy) Elliott. In addition to his parents, Dan is preceded in death by his infant brother: Timothy Elliott.
Dan’s survivors include his sister: Mary Ann Hentz and husband Robert, of Mechanicsburg; his niece and nephew: Lara Becker and husband Chris, of Herndon, VA, Stephen Hentz and wife Vickie, of Mechanicsburg; a cherished son figure: Aleks Pisarenko and wife Patricia, and their two children: Alice and Mark, of San Diego, CA; and his four grand nieces and nephews.
Dan was a 1966 graduate of Drexel Institute and an active member of the Central Pennsylvania engineering community. In addition to being the "Exalted Leader" of his own company Distributed System Equipment, Inc for over 40 years, he served a term as President of the Central Pennsylvania chapter of the Instrument Society of Americ (ISA), he also served as President of the Southcentral Pennsylvania chapter of ASM International. Additionally, he promoted the teaching of engineering and science through active participation in the regions Science Fairs as both a judge and a mentor to participating students. For over 25 years Dan provided mentoring to engineering students at Messiah University assisting with the design and development of a wide variety of projects which have served to enrich the lives and wellbeing of people all over the world. In recognition of these activities promoting engineering education, in 2016 the Central Pennsylvania Professional Engineering Society recognized has efforts by awarding him the John H. McCormick Educational Outreach Award
All are welcome to join Dan’s family at his celebration of life open house with food on Saturday, May 10, 2025, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with a celebration of life service at 2:30 p.m. at Buhrig’s Gathering Place, 25 East Main Street, Mechanicsburg, PA 17055, (717) 766-3421 (next to Buhrig Funeral & Cremation). Over 100 parking spaces are available; just look for the “Buhrig” parking signs in all of the parking lots. Cremation was private.
