We were blessed to have been friends with Dan and Carol for almost 40 years. We shared many wonderful times together including birthdays; special occasions; retirements and of course several "trips of a lifetime" . We looked forward to sharing many more times together. The pain and saddness will diminish over time but thankfully the memories of all the good times will never be forgotten.

Dearest Carol, Alan, Michael, Danielle and Family: The legacy of Love Dan, Dad, Grandpa left is already spilling out in heart felt memories. In my own thoughts of Dan and in sharing with others the tremendous impact he had on our lives, I'm reminded of the phrase I've heard and the commission in our lives as God's people:
"I have no hands and feet but yours. Go and be Me to them". That epitomizes the essence of Dan for me. The love and respect he showed and shared with us was...

Dan De Baets, ak Mr. De Baets, was my accordion teacher at the Siwik Music Center in Winnipeg.....he was and continue to be my "inspiration and my mentor" for my musical career. Living in the north made me realize even more the importance of his "gift to me" to carry on his legacy, Kas and Dan are together, probably doing some "music thing"..It was such a wonderful telephone conversation Carol that we had sunday afternoon. Though my heart still longs to have my Dad back here with us, memories of my childhood soothe me and encourage me to be more patient and present and silly with my own children, following in his example. This is a wonderful gift in a time of immense sadness. As we struggle to let go of our Dad and Grandpa, he lives on in each of us.

Dad/Grandpa (aka Grumpy), we love you as high as the sky and as deep as the ocean.

I was so sad to hear of Dan's passing. I remember him as a special man with a very warm and kind nature. I have so many good memories of the year that I spent as an "exchange student" with Dan and his family in Canada and could not have been more lucky with my "host parents". Dan was a very generous man, who was always respectful towards others, a good listener with a great interest in others. He has been a very caring man for his wife and family. I am thankful I got the chance to get to know...

Dan and his music genuinely enhanced the quality of life for all who live, and have lived, at Poseidon Care Centre for the last 4 decades.
We thank him, and his family, deeply, for the time and energy he spent with us.

He will be greatly missed
