He was born to the late Dean Edward Desotell and Mary Eugenia Desotell (DeGroot) in Green Bay, Wisc., on July 13, 1956.
Dan graduated from Our Lady of Premontre High School in 1974. He continued on to Stout College for a year, and then transferred to NWTC to complete a Woods Degree. He was a member of St. Margaret's Church in Pembine. From a young age, Dan loved hockey and was fortunate enough to have a great four years participating in the Our Lady of Premontre High School Team, and continued to play for the year he was enrolled at Stout College. He was a hardworking man who had a long career for 35 years with the Carpenters' Union #1146, where he retired in July 2011. After retirement, he followed in his father's footsteps as he worked and volunteered at the Green Bay Parks and Rec department, where he spent his time at Colburn Park, at their hockey rink, and helping to host the Dean Desotell Memorial Game in honor of his late father from 1985 to 2017. He was a loving man who loved to do anything to help his friends and family and adored spending time with his son, Jacob Desotell, daughter-in-law, Destiny Desotell, and his only grandchild, Madelyn Desotell.
