Daniel DeThorne Obituary
born on September 14, 1946 in Waukegan, IL to Raymond and Clara (Selzer)
DeThorne.
Daniel graduated from Waukegan Township High School in 1964 and from Marquette
University in 1969. It was at Marquette where he met Eileen Grosh, and they were
married on April 28, 1973. Daniel was employed at International Harvester and later at
John Deere until his retirement in 2009.
Daniel enjoyed traveling, reading, researching family history, and taking bike rides with
his children and grandchildren. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Eileen, and
his children Jeffrey (Lori) and Matthew. He was a wonderful papa to his grandchildren:
Reid, Myles, and Graham DeThorne.
In addition to his parents, Daniel was preceded in death by his sister, Joanne, and
brothers Raymond (Bud) and Richard.
A private service was held by the family. Memorials may be given to the American
Cancer Society.
