Daniel R. DiMille, a cherished husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully at his home on November 2, 2025, at the age of 79. He was born on October 30, 1946, in Somerville, MA, where he laid the foundations of a life filled with love, dedication, and respect.
Daniel met his wife, Pamela Latorella-DiMille, of 48 years at the Union Square Furniture Store in Somerville, MA., and when he laid his eyes on her he knew it was love at first sight. That very moment marked the beginning of a beautiful love story—one that was characterized by adoration and mutual respect. Following his 30 years in sales, Daniel transitioned to Boston University, serving as a security administrator until his retirement.
A proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps, Daniel served with dignity during the Vietnam Era. His military service instilled in him qualities of integrity and respect, traits that permeated every aspect of his life. He was known for his calm demeanor, quick wit, and sense of humor, often lightening the mood with a well-timed joke. A well-respected figure in both his personal and professional circles, he was frequently sought out for his wise advice and thoughtful insights. He was also highly intelligent, enjoying working with numbers and accounting.
Daniel took immense pride in being a devoted family man. He was a great provider, nurturing his children and grandchildren with love and dedication. He delighted in their accomplishments and was always present to enjoy their company. Daniel’s legacy continues through his adoring wife, Pamela; his sons, Michael DiMille and Richard Latorella, and Jonathan Latorella; his daughter, Annmarie Kosak; as well as his several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother-in-law, Kevin Whalen and several nieces and nephews.
Daniel had a zest for life that extended beyond his family. He enjoyed traveling to various destinations, including Italy, Hawaii, Paris, and London. A passionate New England sports fan, he was an avid follower of the Patriots, Red Sox, Bruins, and Celtics. He relished the simple pleasures of dining out and spent countless happy hours working around his yard, particularly proud of his home in Johnston, which he moved to ten years ago to be closer to his family.
He was preceded in death by his father, Damiano DiMille; mother, Silvia (DiPerna) DiMille; brother, Nicholas DiMille; and sisters, Anne Gavin and Elaine Whalen.
Per his wishes, funeral services will be respectfully private.
