I met Dan and Dot Doll in 1971 when my sister Lois and her husband Tom were married. Dan was the Best Man at the wedding. I liked them immediately and we were close friends for many years. Dan helped Lois and Tom with many things at their house, including building a beautiful screened in porch that we all enjoyed for years. He was a skilled craftsman as well as a great teacher. Dan, Dot, Lois, and Tom took many scuba diving trips together and had gorgeous photos from those trips. Dan is one of the best people I ever met and he will be deeply missed. I am so sorry for your loss, Amy and family. Sincerely, Debbie Russell

I was fortunate to have many influential and outstanding teachers, but he was my first teacher mentor. I had him for 9th grade Early Western Civ and Africa courses, and then I was roped into IR/Model UN club starting in 10th grade as well as his Anthropology class. Although I was already a history nerd, and his classes were always enjoyable, entertaining, and engaging, his mentorship influence to me came in two ways. The importance and complexities of the social sciences in shaping the real world, and being that "go-to-teacher" who supported me on a deeper and out of the classroom level as I grew from the stereotypical lost ninth grader to a student leader. I - and many others, without a doubt - would otherwise not be the people we are today.

Absolutely the most wonderful and caring teacher ever! He knew if you were struggling and would kindly work with you to figure it all out!

As teachers go, he was one of the best; as humans go, he was even better. He inspired us all to be better versions of ourselves, in the classroom and in life. Mahalo, Mr. Doll, and a hui ho

Mr. Doll was my favorite teacher at Gideon Welles and at GHS. He was always kind and fun. He was a wonderful teacher who kept you interested in his lectures. The world has lost another wonderful person, but I am so happy that he is once again at his soulmate Dorothy's side in Heaven. God Bless you Mr. Doll, and God Bless your family. May you rest in heavenly peace. Deb Kaiser Morse

Everybody loved him. He came to visit me in the hospital in high school and tutored me.

Mr. Doll was my favorite teacher. Ancient History, Period B, 1968, Gideon Welles JRHS. He really knew how to teach. And 1968 may have been his first year at age 23.

How well we remember meeting Dan and Dot through our friends Tom and Lois. We always looked forward to our yearly hayrides with lots of funny stories and antics. Dan and I bonded through teaching and he even had a few of the students I had in kindergarten who had moved to Glastonbury and were Dan´ s students in high school.
Dan was funny, thoughtful, adventurous and a very good man. We are sorry to hear of your Dad´s passing, Amy, but he is with your Mom now. He loved you so much and was so proud of you and your family.
