Daniel Robert Ewing age 63 of Cresco, IA passed away on February 23, 2023 after a long battle with COPD at the Good Samaritan Nursing Home in West Union, IA.
A private family burial will be held at a later date in Rossville, IA at the Rossville Cemetery.
Hugeback-Johnson Funeral Home & Crematory in New Hampton have been entrusted with all of Dan's funeral arrangements.
Daniel Robert Ewing was born November 13, 1959 in Waukon, IA. The son of William and Anna Marie Ewing (Billmyer). Dan graduated from Waukon Senior High in 1978. Dan married Melinda (Mellick) on January 20, 1979. Dan and Melinda had three children, Shawn, Ashley and Joseph. The couple later divorced. Dan completed his welding degree at NICC in Calmar in 1979.
Growing up, Dan worked on a farm, drove semi and worked in a few factories before finding a job he was "proud" of. Dan worked two separate welding lines, put together multiple stock trailers, NASCAR trailers and camper trailers at Featherlite Trailers in Cresco. COPD forced him to retire from this job that he loved in 2020.
Dan later married Roberta "Bobbi" Webster and the couple later divorced but remained friends for 23 years.
Outside of welding, Dan loved steam engine tractors, trains, Dale Earnhardt JR and NASCAR. He also loved going to swap meets, camping, fishing and spending time with his grandsons, family, and best friend David.
He is survived by his three children, Shawn Ewing of Waukon, Ashley (Mike Wilcoxson) Ewing of Lawler, Joseph Ewing of Waukon; two grandsons, Allen Wilcoxson of Lawler, Brady Ewing of Waukon; one brother, Lawrence Ewing of Elma; five sisters, LouAnn Bucheit of Decorah, Deb (Dave) Dugan of Waterloo, Patty Dahlstran (Al Peterson) of Lansing, Judy (Don) Miller of Postville, Donna (Darby) Stone of Lansing; many nieces, nephews, cousins; one aunt, Kay Snitker of Waukon.
He was preceded in death by his parents, grandparents; brothers-in-law, Bruce Dahlstrom, Alyn Bucheit.
