Daniel Lynn Frair, pharmacist, Rotarian, volunteer firefighter, golfer, old car and tractor enthusiast, wood worker, and all-around tinkerer (who loved to “Rube Goldberg” solutions) passed away at the age of 85 surrounded by his loved ones on the morning of September 9, 2023. Dan lived in Port Crane, New York with his wife Susan (née Thurber) surrounded by the dogs, countryside, and workshops that he loved. Together, Dan and Sue walked dogs for the Humane Society, traveled with their Lazy Daze motorhome group, and loved spending time with family.
In addition to Susan, Dan is survived by three children: Deborah Smiroldo, Daniel Frair (wife Evelyn) and Jacqueline Frair; three stepchildren: Lynne Talbot (husband Mark), Richard Veres (wife Amy) and Shawn Veres; eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren. Dan and his two sisters, Judy Herb, and Avis Dickinson were raised in Oxford, New York by Walter and Vivian Frair. Having earned a degree from the Albany College of Pharmacy, Dan co-owned the Afton Pharmacy for many years, worked briefly for Hackers Packers, and ultimately retired from CVS Pharmacy. He was well known for his love of wordplay, sense of humor, kindness, and big heart. For their support and care in recent months the family wishes to thank Dr. Varsha Kishore, Lourdes Home Care, Home Instead, Lourdes Hospital Ross 3, Fairview Home Rehab and Cameo Court, Hospice, and neighbors Marvin and Mike.
