We are saddened to announce the sudden passing of our beloved Cowboy, Daniel D. Gomez, 79, of Beeville, Texas, on Friday, December 8, 2023.
Daniel was born May 28, 1944, in Beeville to Antonio “Chiquito” Gomez and Elisa (Duarte) Gomez. He married the love of his life, Inez Arredondo, on October 16, 1966, in Beeville. He was of the Catholic faith.
An avid outdoorsman at a very young age, Daniel dedicated an amazing 62 years of his life to ranch and farm work. He enjoyed tending to cattle, riding horses and driving his tractor while working at the Ray Welder Ranch in Beeville. Making knives was a fun hobby of Daniel’s as well as roping and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Antonio and Elisa Gomez; brothers, Mark Anthony Gomez and Bobby Ray Gomez; sister-in-law, Annette Gomez; a grandson, Raul Ramon Jr.; and a niece, Patricia Lynn Hughes.
Left behind to cherish fond memories include his loving wife of 57 years, Inez A. Gomez; two sons, Jesus A. (Mary) Gomez and Raul (Donna) Ramon Sr.; daughters, Maria “Chris” Gomez Silvas, Inez Gomez, Rosanna (Andy) Garza; grandchildren, Daniel G. (Lucero) Gomez, Benito D. (Alyssa) Varillas, Margaret Ashley Zuniga, Jessica (Joseph) Tenerias, Brayden Andrew Garza, Noemi Ramon, Richard Ramon and Raul Garza; brothers, Guadalupe (Lena) Gomez Sr., Richard (Paula) Gomez Sr. and Joe D. (Rosalinda) Gomez; sisters, Emma Lee (David) Sayre and Mary A. (Cirildo Jr.) Garza; 14 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews and other extended family members and friends.
Visitation will be held from 3 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home with a Rosary to be recited at 7 o’clock that evening.
The funeral service will be conducted at 2 p.m. Thursday, December 14, at Galloway & Sons Funeral Home with burial to follow at Our Lady of Victory Cemetery No. 2.
Pallbearers will be Richard Gomez Jr., Travis Gomez Sr., Antonio “Tony” Gomez, Guadalupe Gomez Jr., Richard Ramon, Manuel Gomez Jr., Nick Arredondo Jr. and Mitchell Arredondo.
Honorary pallbearers will be Daniel Guadalupe Gomez, Benito Daniel Varillas, Brayden Andrew Garza, Nicole Hughes, Joe A. Gomez, Jeremiah Gomez, Robert Velasquez, Joshua Gomez and Mark Gomez.
