Daniel Gossard

Daniel "Dan" Gossard, 82, of Clinton Township, Michigan, passed away peacefully into the arms of his Lord and Savior on September 22, 2025, while napping on his favorite couch.

Dan was born on January 1, 1943, in Johnstown, Pennsylvania, to George and Dorothy (Clemence) Gossard. He faithfully served his country in the U.S. Army's 101st Airborne Division before returning home to Detroit. After a few years in the auto industry, he was sworn in as a Detroit Police Officer in 1968. Dan served his community with honor and integrity for 30 years until his retirement as a Sergeant.

Beyond his service, Dan was a man who lived his faith in both word and deed. He loved caring for his home and garden, rooting for the Pittsburgh Steelers, working out, reading, and especially looked forward to Sunday drives and meals along Lake St. Clair with his beloved wife, Marilyn.

Dan is survived by his devoted wife of 52 years, Marilyn (Luca) Gossard; twin daughters, Jennifer (Donell) Holyfield and Julia (Michael) Ashburn; and his cherished grandson, James Daniel Ashburn, who lovingly called him "Pap." He is also survived by his brother, Dennis; two half-siblings; sister-in-law, Diane Harriman; and brother-in-law, Tom (June) Luca. He is remembered by his dear niece, Kimberly D'Alessandro, along with many other nieces and nephews, and is deeply missed by his treasured dog, Rosie.

He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorothy; his half-sister, Carol Robotnik; his sister-in-law, Linda Gossard; and his nephew, Derrick Gossard.

A memorial service will be held at Immanuel Lutheran Church, located at 47120 Romeo Plank Rd, Macomb, MI 48044, on October 9th at 11am. Dan's final resting place will be at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly, Michigan. Memorial gifts may be made to Immanuel Lutheran Church in Dan's memory.

Dan's life reflected his faith: steady, humble, and full of love for God and family. He will be remembered as a husband, father, grandfather, and servant who trusted in Christ and now rests in eternal peace.
