Daniel Thomas (Dan) Grassi, 78, of Columbia, died on Monday, September 23, 2024. Born March 21, 1946, in Johnson City, New York, he was the youngest son of the late Michael Archangelo Grassi and Yolanda Violet Petrolle Grassi.
Dan was a proud and loving father to his seven children. He was retired from IBM and later Palmetto GBA. After retirement, his joy was spending time with his wife, Meg, begrudgingly working on the never-ending house projects, and doting on their twelve year old triplets as a stay-at-home dad.
Survivors include his wife, Margaret Heath "Meg" Etheredge Grassi; children, Scott John Grassi (Patti) of Anderson, SC, Patricia "Tricia" Leigh Grassi (Kristen) of Clayton, NC, Sharie Lee Nisbet (Jeff) of Hornell, NY, Amy Lynn Grassi Watson of Wilson, NC and the triplets, Mary Margaret "Garrett" Grassi, Gabriella Violet "Gabby" Grassi and Jackson Heath Grassi of Columbia, SC. He leaves behind his grandchildren, Raven Goodspeed (Josh), Josh Willey, Joey Ridgway (Morgan), Jamie Lyn Sawczyszyn, Danielle Blount (Jay), Angela Grassi, Leah Cox, Rachel Cox, Natalie Cox, and Addison Watson; great grandchildren, Holden Goodspeed, Ava Proctor, Mason O'Neal, Samuel Reyes, Amelia O'Neal, Hayden Goodspeed, Paisley Winship, Carson Ridgway, and Cade Ridgway. He was also survived by sisters-in-law, many nieces, nephews, and cousins. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Archie Grassi, Monroe Grassi, and Mark Grassi.
The Mass of Christian Burial for Mr. Grassi will be held at 10 o'clock on Friday, September 27th, at The Basilica of Saint Peter, 1529 Assembly St, Columbia, SC, with Father Erik Roman officiating.
