Daniel Haddix Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, LLP - West 38th St. on Oct. 29, 2022.
Daniel Haddix, age 81, of Georgetown, KY and formerly of Waterford, PA passed away Thursday, October 27, 2022, at his son's residence with whom he lived. Born on January 3, 1941 in Jackson, KY, Dan was a son of the late Silas Haddix and Mattie Fouch.
Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters Dorothy Bryant, Brenda Noble, Lizzie Bee Turner, Evie Haddix and brothers Silas Haddix, John Henry Ball and Ollie Haddix. Survivors include his wife Maudella (Richardson) Haddix, whom he married on September 4, 1965, a son, David Haddix, wife Leah, and grandchildren Noah and Hannah Haddix. David, Noah and Hannah were his pride and joy. He is further survived by brothers Nelson Haddix and William Ray Haddix and one sister, Maude Noble. Dan has many nieces, nephews and great nieces and nephews that were all very special to him.
Dan worked at Gunite Erie/EMI for 35 years before his retirement. Anyone who knew Dan, knew he was a hard worker and gave his all in everything he ever did. He loved to garden and share his harvest with everyone, including friends, family, strangers and he also loved taking any extra to the food bank for those in need. He enjoyed working with his hands. Dan loved wood working, making beautiful homemade kitchen cabinets for the farmhouse, gun cabinets, bookshelves, bowls, wooden crates, wooden cars for his grandchildren and rolling pins just to name a few. He loved tinkering in his garage where he would make something he thought his family or someone else could use. He took great pride in his farm and kept it looking immaculate. When you came to Dan's home, he would always try to feed you and make sure you never left his home hungry.
The family would like to extend our deepest thanks to Bluegrass Hospice Care for their excellent care. Thanks to each and every one that came into our home to care for Dan.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 11a.m. until the time of service at 1 p.m. at Brugger Funeral Homes & Crematory, 1595 West 38th St. at Greengarden Blvd, Erie PA. Burial will follow at Laurel Hill Cemetery.
