Daniel Bruce Hoffman, age 78, of Wahpeton, ND, passed away at his home on Saturday, January 10, 2026. A memorial service will be held in his honor on Monday, January 19, 2026, at 2 PM, with a visitation one hour prior at Vertin-Munson Funeral Home in Wahpeton. Interment will be at Calvary Cemetery in the spring.
Daniel was born on March 4, 1947, in Wahpeton, North Dakota, to Elroy and Josephine (Dolly) Hoffman. He grew up in Wahpeton, attending St. John’s School and Wahpeton High School, graduating in 1965.
Daniel served his country from 1966-1968 in the army. After coming home, he attended NDSSS in the accounting, auto mechanic, and small engine repair fields. Later working at Busta Service Station, D & E Machining, Primwood, and NDSSS.
Daniel married Janice Renae Wolter on June 20, 1970. They were blessed with three daughters. Dani (Jason) Johnson of Breckenridge, Minnesota, and their sons Alex and Brady. Dawn Jirak of Breckenridge, Minnesota, and her children, Paul and Michae. Dyan (Kelly) Torgerson of Wahpeton, North Dakota.
He loved a quiet day or night on the riverbank, trying for the catfish of the day. He liked to lake fish with his brother-in-law Ben Differding. Starting Seedlings for the garden in the basement so when the weather was nice, he could plant them. He loved to tinker in his shop, doing some woodworking.
Daniel is survived by his wife of 55 years, Janice. Their three daughters, Dani, Dawn, and Dyan. Their Grandchildren Alex, Brady, Paul, and Michae. Sisters; Dorinda (Gary) Topp of Everett, Washington, and Deana (Art) Simon of Lake Stevens, Washington. Brothers-in-law; Duane (Suzanne) Wolter of Breckenridge, Minnesota, Dale (Melani) Wolter of Breckenridge, Minnesota. Sister-in-law Joyce (Ben II) Differding of Breckenridge, Minnesota. As well as numerous Nieces and Nephews.
Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Elroy and Josephine Hoffman, two brothers, Duane and Dennis Hoffman, and two sisters, Donna (Clifford) Mohs and Darlene (Don) Dahl. Son-in-law Michael Jirak. Father and mother-in-law, Albert and Valeria Wolter. Three brothers-in-law, Gerald, Jon, and Al Wolter. And sister-in-law, Judy Wolter.
