Daniel "Dan" D. Hook, 81, beloved husband of Donna Hook, passed away on March 13, 2026.

Born in Cayce, South Carolina, he was the son of the late Lawrence O. Hook and Lois Mack Drafts. He was a graduate of Brooklyn-Cayce High School and the University of South Carolina.

Dan was a member of Taylors First Baptist Church and a proud veteran of the United States Marine Corps. He lived an active life and found great joy in the outdoors as an avid motorcyclist and hiker. Above all, he cherished time with his family, especially attending his grandsons' baseball games and celebrating their milestones. Dan also had a special love for Australian Shepherds and enjoyed the loyal companionship of many "Aussies" throughout the years.

Professionally, Dan devoted his life to accounting, building a respected career marked by dedication and integrity. In the 1980s, he opened his own CPA firm, Cole, Hook & Clary, and later continued his career as a partner with Elliott Davis.

In addition to his wife of 60 years, Donna, he is survived by his daughter, Jacqueline Thomas, and her husband, Lee; and his two grandchildren, Hayden and Jackson Thomas. Dan and Donna shared a love for the USC Gamecocks, enjoyed long walks together, and treasured their time visiting new places and creating memories. Over more than six decades, they built a life filled with love, laughter, and treasured moments. As his only daughter, Jacqueline held a special place in his heart, and he took pride in watching her family grow. He also shared a close bond with his son-in-law, Lee, and the two enjoyed many motorcycle trips and adventures.

He is also survived by his brother, Rhett Hook and his wife, Pam; his brother, Freddy Hook; and his sister, Kim Sanchelli and her husband, Greg, along with several cherished nieces and nephews.

Dan will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather whose wisdom, strength, and unwavering love for his family shaped the lives of those closest to him. Known for his steady character, kind spirit, and quiet generosity, he lived a life defined by service, integrity, and devotion, leaving a lasting legacy in the hearts of all who knew him.

The family will receive friends on Wednesday, March 18, 2026, from 2:00 until 4:00 p.m. at Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes, Downtown Chapel, Greenville, South Carolina.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital at www.stjude.org.

Friends are invited to share their favorite memories of Dan by visiting the Thomas McAfee Funeral Homes online tribute page and selecting "Share a Memory" or "Tributes."
