Daniel Jacobs, 73, passed away at his home in rural Alden, MN on Thursday, May 29, 2025 after an 18 month battle of muscle invasive bladder cancer. A celebration of life will be held at 11am on Friday, June 6, 2025 at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home in Albert Lea. A visitation will be held from 5-7pm on Thursday, June 5, 2025 at the Bayview/Freeborn Funeral Home, along with an hour prior to the service. Pastor McQuade Jacobs will be officiating.
Dan was born on November 21, 1951 to Donald and Darlene Jacobs in Albert Lea, Minnesota. He grew up on the family farm near Manchester and graduated from Freeborn High School. He served in the US Army from 1971-1979.
Dan married his high school sweetheart, Patricia (Patty) Staloch on June 19, 1971. Through this union, they had four children.
He worked at ALMCO as a computer programmer and data processing manager for several years. Dan was steadfast in his faith, and was a member of the Sojourners Church.
Dan loved being outdoors working in the garden, cutting wood and collecting sap for maple syrup. He served on the Farmer’s Market Board. He and Patty enjoyed bringing their produce and goods to the market weekly. They had fun adventures of traveling together, visiting family. Dan cherished time with family including the annual Jacobs Pheasant Hunt weekend each fall, camping with his family and all family gatherings.
Dan will be remembered for his kind and servant heart. He was a firm believer in the salvation of his Savior, the Lord Jesus Christ. It was important to him that others know the Good News of Jesus.
Daniel is survived by his wife Patricia (Patty); his children Jason (Melanie) Jacobs, Sara Jacobs, John (Chandra) Jacobs, and Amanda (Jon) Dierenfeld. Grandchildren: McKoy Jacobs, McQuade (Taige) Jacobs, Isaac Jacobs, Jacob and Susie Dierenfeld, and Amia Jacobs. Great-grandchildren Eve and McQuade Jacobs Jr. He is survived by his siblings, Darwin (Terry) Jacobs, David (Janelle) Jacobs, DeeAnn (Jerome) Goette and Donna (Jay) Ignaszewski.
Daniel is preceded in death by his parents Darlene (1994) and Donald (2017) Jacobs, niece Tessa Jacobs (2018), and brother Doug Jacobs (2019).
