Daniel W. Kanter, age 73, of Brillion, passed away peacefully Wednesday afternoon, January 15, 2025 at his home.
Daniel was born on October 21, 1951, son of the late George and Mary (Burich) Kanter. He was a graduate of Reedsville High School with the class of 1969. On July 2, 1971 he married the former Shirley McVey at St. Michael's Catholic Church in Whitelaw. Daniel began is career at Wisconsin Aluminum Foundry in Manitowoc and was there for 18 years. He also owned and operated his own business, Kanter Logging, for over 25 years. In his younger years he enjoyed hunting, trapping and fishing. Daniel also enjoyed playing cards (his favorite game being 31), wood cutting, building bird cages and taking trips to the casino to do some gambling. More than anything he loved his family.
Survivors include his wife: Shirley Kanter; two daughters: Renee Kanter, Rebecca (David) Brault; four grandchildren: Sawyer Stubbe (special friend Theresa Wegner), Sydney Stubbe (fiancé Cameron Strutz), Abby Brault (special friend Cody Thoresen), Ethan Brault; his siblings: Dennis (Lyla) Kanter, Darwin (Robin) Kanter, Dean (Jane) Kanter, Dianne Carmody, Danette Kanter, Denise (Mike) Weber, Dorilyn Kanter, Deborah (Tim) Karl, Dorothy (Patrick) Fitzgerald; brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law: Gary (Gesine) McVey, Bryan (Anne) McVey, Brent (Dawn) McVey, Carol (Mike) Schuh, Dawn (Doug) Johns; two brothers-in-law: Ron Kuchenbecker and Richard Buss; and his former son-in-law: Scott (Carol) Stubbe. Many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents; siblings: Donald (Joan) Kanter, Delores (Jerome) Moller, Darlene Balliew; father-in-law and mother-in-law: Robert and Violet McVey; brothers-in-law: Michael Stetson, Jack Carmody, Michael Heimke; sisters-in-law: Beverly Buss and Sandra Kuchenbecker; and his life-long best friend: Geno Gerhardt.
Per Daniel's wishes, there will be no public services.
