Daniel Keyes Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Phillips-Robinson Funeral Home - Nashville Chapel on Feb. 18, 2026.
Daniel Stuart "Dan" Keyes, 64, of Portland, Tennessee, passed away on February 16, 2026, at Vanderbilt Medical Center, surrounded by loved ones and compassionate care.

Born in Hartford, Connecticut, Dan spent most of his adult life in Arizona before moving to Portland a few years ago to be closer to his family. Being near those he loved meant a great deal to him, and he treasured the time spent together in recent years.

Dan retired from Rogers, where he worked as a respected shift supervisor. He was known for his strong work ethic, steady leadership, and the dependability that defined both his career and his character.

Outside of work, Dan found joy in life's simple pleasures. He loved fishing, working in his yard, and spending time outdoors. He was an avid sports fan and a devoted New York Yankees supporter. Dan had a special love for animals, and his beloved Basenji, Zoey, was truly his pride and joy and faithful companion.

He was preceded in death by his brother, Gary Steven Keyes.

Dan is survived by his loving parents, Robert ("Bob") and Fay Keyes; his brother, Jeffrey Keyes and wife Frances; and his sister, Kathy Earlie and husband Trent. He also leaves behind four nieces, two nephews, four great-nieces, and four great-nephews who will cherish his memory.

A celebration of life will be held at a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the American Cancer Society or the Humane Society of Sumner County.
