In Loving Memory of Daniel Joseph Komro

It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Daniel Joseph Komro of Prescott, WI, who died on December 28, 2025, at the age of 66.

Dan was born on December 23, 1959, in Durand, WI, to Kenneth Komro and Nancy (Benjamin) Carothers. On August 19, 2006, he married Chanpheng “Penny” Phromprakay, beginning a beautiful 19-year marriage with the greatest love of his life.

Dan developed a love for sports at a young age, playing basketball and competing in long-distance running. After high school, he attended Hamline University in Saint Paul, MN, for a year before joining the military.

Dan proudly dedicated 27 years to the United States Air Force, a career that took him across the globe to posts in Iraq, Korea, and Japan and culminated in his retirement with the distinguished rank of Major. He continued his career as a Physician Assistant, with unique assignments including a test site near Las Vegas, NV (in the vicinity of Area 51) and the Las Vegas jail.

Dan achieved a significant professional milestone in 2016 when he returned to the Midwest to become the Director of the EveresT Center for Men’s Health in Woodbury, MN. He was deeply committed to his patients and took immense purpose in his work.

Dan found great joy in his return to Prescott, WI, after 35 years—a heartfelt homecoming to the community he loved. He was an unwavering sports fan, with lifelong loyalties to the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, and Minnesota Twins.

Dan is survived by his beloved wife, Penny Komro; his father, Kenneth Komro; siblings Paul (Kim) Komro, and Lisa (David) Fleming; in-laws Chitta Nix, Ken Gregg (Mary Perez), and Mona Phromprakay; stepfather Allen Carothers; and goddaughters Madelynn and Brooklynn. He is also survived by many loving nieces and nephews.

Dan’s warmth, dedication, and spirit will be forever missed by his family, his wide circle of friends, his colleagues, and the many patients he cared for with compassion.

He was preceded in death by his mother Nancy Carothers; stepmother, Sandra Komro; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

A funeral service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, January 9, 2026, at Joy Lutheran Church: 1435 St. Croix St., Prescott, WI 54021. Visitation will begin at 9:00 a.m. and continue until the start of the service. Burial with military honors will follow at Ft. Snelling National Cemetery.

In keeping with Dan's generous and welcoming nature, the family invites all who knew him to join them in celebrating his amazing life. While memorials are preferred to the family in lieu of flowers, your presence is the greatest gift.
