Daniel "Dan" Kropp

Daniel Kropp (91) died (August 11). He was predeceased by his parents and brothers. He is survived by his high school sweetheart, Elizabeth, who he adored and was married to for 71 years, his son Michael (Mary Alice) Kropp of Vestal NY, his daughter Barbara (Mark) Van Vechten of Port Byron NY, three granddaughters, Gillian (John DeMartin) Kropp of Norton MA, Stephanie Kropp of Binghamton NY, and Krysta Kropp of Liverpool England, four great grandchildren, William Bosello, Carter DeMartin, Bianca Bosello and Logan Bosello.
Born and living in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, for one-third of his life, he was a lifelong Green Bay Packers and Wisconsin Badgers fan. He was a veteran of the Korean War, serving as a light weapons instructor, although he never fired a weapon before or after the war.
Dan's most memorable work experiences were the four years he worked on the Apollo Program for General Motors, the four years he worked in England on the Royal Navy's Merlin Helicopter Program for IBM/ASIC and receiving the IBM/FSC Management Award for exceptional management performance.
After retirement Dan did AARP tax counseling for the elderly, volunteered for Meals on Wheels of Western Broome for 25 years (including six years on the Board of Directors) and worked at the OLGC soup kitchen. He was a collection counter at OLGC and participated in other volunteer projects.
Dan was a fourth degree member of the Knights of Columbus and served in its Color Corps for over forty eight years.
He enjoyed golf, extensive travel, crossword and jigsaw puzzles, reading, music and a good martini.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated Thursday 11 am at Our Lady of Good Counsel Church, 701 West Main Street, Endicott. Burial will be in Calvary Cemetery, Johnson City. The family will receive friends at church Thursday from 10 am until Mass time at 11 am.
