Daniel Charles Krotzer, 81, of
Lake Benton, Minnesota, passed away peacefully on December 4, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on July 3, 1944, in
St. Bonifacius, Minnesota, to George and Dorothy Krotzer, and grew up in a close-knit family with five siblings.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, December 20, 2025, at 2:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall of Jehovah's Witnesses in
Lake Benton, Minnesota, followed by a 'coffee break' at the Lake Benton Area Community & Event Center. Gabe Krause will be giving the discourse.
Dan met the love of his life, Sandra Duehn, at a young age. He often shared the cherished memory of seeing her walk down the stairs and knowing instantly that he wanted to marry her. They were married on July 10, 1965. One of the first things Dan and Sandy did as a married couple was to dedicate their lives to their God, Jehovah, symbolizing it by water baptism on August 13, 1965.
Dan's love for Jehovah and his love for the Bible was undeniable as he always endeavored to make choices that reflected Scriptural principles. That devotion led Dan and his family to
Lake Benton, Minnesota, in 1974, when they were asked to move there to support the congregation-a service he faithfully carried out for the rest of his life. At the time of their move, Dan chose to leave behind a promising career with the Target Corporation, guided by one of his favorite scriptures, 2 Timothy 2:15: "Do your utmost to present yourself approved to God, a workman with nothing to be ashamed of, handling the word of the Truth aright."
Dan proved to be such a man. At the Kingdom Hall, he served as an elder and shepherd, giving many Bible discourses in addition to conducting the Sunday Watchtower study which he cherished for many years. At assemblies and conventions, he was always willing to help in any way he could, many times volunteering for long hours before and after for cleaning and maintenance of the facilities.
From an early age, Dan had a variety of talents and showed a remarkable gift for creativity. After attending the Minneapolis College of Art and Design, his engineer's mind led him to a lifetime of designing, building, and crafting unique and beautiful projects including many of the homes and buildings in Lake Benton and the surrounding area. Everything he touched carried his signature blend of ingenuity and care.
If you needed to find Dan, he was most often in his shop, on the skid loader or speeding through town on his lawn mower. He was always ready to lend a hand-never asking for anything in return. Even as dementia began to affect his mind, his generous spirit remained unchanged; he would openly tell others, "If you need me, I'll come help-no charge."
Dan was a loyal friend to many and will be deeply missed. He was preceded in death by his parents, George and Dorothy Krotzer; his sister, Joyce Hietanen; and his brothers, Richard Krotzer, David Krotzer, and William Krotzer. He is survived by his beloved wife, Sandy, his son Danny (Megan), his sister Beatrice Bathurst of Buffalo MN, and his many loving nieces and nephews.
