Daniel Richard LaPenna, age 66, of Fremont, passed away peacefully at home on September 1st, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. Born July 29th, 1959, in Grand Haven, he was the beloved son of Joseph and Rose LaPenna.

A 1978 graduate of Grand Haven High School, Daniel dedicated much of his early life to his family's cherished business, Giuseppe's Pizza in Fremont-a local favorite and a true reflection of his Italian heritage. Later, he went on to work at Shape Corporation in Grand Haven, where he gave 26 years of hard work and commitment before retiring.

On September 26th, 1986, Daniel married the love of his life, Barbara Purcey, in Ocala, Florida. Together, they built a life full of love, laughter, and family. He was a proud and devoted father to Alicia and Daniel J. LaPenna, and nothing brought him more joy than watching his family grow.

Daniel's world revolved around his loved ones. He was a proud grandpa to Zachariah Terbeek, Claire Middleton, Aubrianna Terbeek, Ivy Newman, Jayce Newman, Godric Preston, and Kylie LaPenna -each of whom brought him endless pride and happiness. His quiet strength, quick wit, and generous heart will live on in them.

He is survived by his wife of 38 years, Barbara LaPenna; his children, Alicia (Jeremy Preston) LaPenna and Daniel J. (Janice) LaPenna; his siblings, Diana Light, David (Barb) LaPenna, and Doreen (Dale) Hettmansperger; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and lifelong friends.

Daniel was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Rose LaPenna, his brother-in-law Lee Light, and several beloved aunts and uncles.

Those who knew Dan will remember his unwavering loyalty, love of good food, quiet wisdom, and the deep pride he had in his family. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, laughter, and love that will be cherished forever.

A Celebration of Life Visitation will be held from 5-7 PM on Friday, September 12, 2025 at Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home. You can sign the online guest book at www.kroeze-wolffis.com. Arrangements are by Kroeze-Wolffis Funeral Home, Inc. of Fremont.

Rest Easy my Friend! You will live on in my thoughts and memories. Being around the campfire rooting for Michigan football with your mix of Michigan shorts with Michigan State shirt. You loved that we built that fire in the middle of the river. It was the Michigan hot tub. I always enjoyed our conversations and time together. Thanks for being my friend. It was an honor being yours. You will be missed. Rhonda and my Thoughts and love go out to Barb and Bella and the family!
Love,
Alec & Rhonda Hunt
