Daniel A. Lauria, of Braintree, beloved husband, father and grandfather, whose life was defined by his love for family, commitment to excellence in business and dedication to his community, ascended into the loving arms of the Lord on Friday, May 16, 2025, at the age of 77, surrounded by his family.
Daniel was born in Quincy, MA, to the late Alphonse and Venerie (Lavina) Lauria of Braintree.
Dan was the beloved husband to Rosemarie (George, McNamara) Lauria. He was the devoted and consummate "girl dad" to his daughters, Kristen Larson of CT, Alyson McNamara of Braintree, and Courtney Lauria of NYC, and the adoring "Papa" to Cecilia Larson, Ava Philbrick, Chloe Larson, and Braedan Larson, all of CT. Dan was also known as "Papa" to his grand-dog, Charlie.
Dan was the loving brother of Rose Devin, Linda Lauria and her partner Joseph Davis, and Robert Lauria (who predeceased him), all of Braintree, and uncle to many nieces and nephews.
Dan served in the United States Air Force during the Vietnam era, stationed in both Spain and Alaska. Though he did not see combat, he spoke fondly of the camaraderie, discipline, and unforgettable experiences he gained. His time in the service shaped his strong sense of duty and gave him stories he loved to share – often with a smile and a touch of humor.
Dan was a lifelong resident of Braintree. During his career as the owner of Lauria Real Estate, he was affectionately thought of as Braintree's "Hometown Broker". It was jokingly said that he had sold every house in Braintree at least once during his 55 years serving his community, and was well known for his integrity, humility, and generosity. In 1978, Dan was elected Assessor for the Town of Braintree and served through 1980. In 1982 he became the President of the Quincy and South Shore Board of Realtors. In 1990 Dan was selected by the Realty Guild of Massachusetts as their Braintree representative and became Treasurer of the organization through 2003; he remained an active member until 2024. Dan proudly served as a Corporator for South Shore Bank from 2019 to 2024. Dan was also a lifelong member of the Braintree Sons of Italy, the Braintree Lodge of Elks and Braintree DAV.
Dan loved a good game of Blackjack and cherished his time spent at the casino with his family and dear friends. Some of his happiest memories were made traveling with his beloved wife, Rosemarie, especially on trips to Aruba and anywhere the sun was shining. Their second home in Bonita Springs, Florida was a true retreat where he found joy, relaxation and countless special moments.
Relatives and friends may attend visiting hours at the Cartwright-Venuti Funeral Home, 845 Washington St, Braintree, MA, on Monday, May 26, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM.

Just got back to Mass. and heard about Dan...so sad! He was one of the best 3rd baseman for Braintree and helped lead us to our 2nd Tournament appearance in a row in 1965. What a GREAT teammate and friend.

I had the privilege to know Dan and had shared many memories with him as I would sit with him to be a companion for him m so his lovely wife could go to her appointments or shopping and do other errands that needed to be done .
I feel so blessed and grateful for knowing him for only about a year or so ago . We would play games , watch tv , and go for walks as he loved to be out in the sun even on the very hot days . Dan also loved sitting in the sun room where the warmth of the sun would just be so relaxing for him . I remember that he would try to teach me black jack card game which he was very very good at . Once I brought over my laundry quarters so we could play for money but I told him that whatever he won he would have to give back all my quarters so I could take home with me to do my laundry . He thought it was so funny and we both had a good laugh about it . There is so much more I could share about our times we shared together. Dan was a gentle soul of a man and so I want to say thank you Dan for being my friend and for letting me be a part of your life . I love you Dan . May you be blessed in heaven for eternity and resting at peace now . You will be greatly missed by me and all who knew you and loved you so very much .
With all my love Cathy Sisto
