Captain Daniel Lee Childers, age sixty-nine, passed away peacefully, surrounded by loved ones on October 19th, 2021, at St. David's Hospital in Austin, Texas. Daniel was born July 8th, 1952 in Hearne, Texas.
Daniel spent his life as a heavy tow pilot who worked on various rivers in the United States. He spent most of his career on the Mississippi River. He was very passionate about his work and had accomplished many things in the fifty years he spent on the boats. Daniel spent his free time fishing, riding motorcycles, and enjoying time with family.
Daniel is survived by his loving wife Cindy; his brother, Dennis; his sister, Ellen; four sons; four daughters; and twelve grandchildren. Daniel's memory will live on through the lives he impacted and the coworkers he considered family. Daniel was kind, compassionate, and loved with all his heart. He will be missed dearly.
A memorial service for Daniel will be held Tuesday, November 2, 2021 from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM at Cook-Walden Davis Funeral Home, 2900 Williams Drive, Georgetown, TX 78628.
