Newport News - Daniel "Dusty" Lee Leik, born on October 12, 1954, in Battle Creek, Michigan, passed away on August 7, 2025, in Newport News, Virginia, at the age of 70. He passed quietly and peacefully, similar to how he lived his life.

Dusty dedicated his life to the United States Army where he served for 30 years until his retirement as a Reserve Major. This was his most prized achievement, and there was nowhere else he would rather have been. He enjoyed the structure and simplicity of military life, characteristics that he embraced for a lifetime. Following his military retirement, Dusty went on to work another 20 years in the field of Information Technology, working diligently as a Computer Analyst. His career was marked by a commitment to excellence and a passion for innovation within his field. He earned his Bachelor's Degree, which laid the foundation for his successful career.

He was preceded in death by his beloved parents, Ervin and Leona (Smith) Leik, his baby sister, Mary Louise, and brother Roger Leik. Dusty is survived by two sisters, Carol (Dale) Hicks and Helen Boichot, a dear family friend, Linda Mason, as well as her three daughters: Kimberly Mason, Kelly (Brian) Boos, and Kristie Brice, along with numerous nieces, nephews, and cousins.

At this time, no services are planned. Cremation & Funeral Services of Tidewater is assisting his family during this difficult time. Friends and loved ones are invited to share their memories and express condolences online at CandFServices.com.

In remembrance of Dusty, may we all find peace and comfort in the cherished memories we hold dear.
