Dan was born the first child of Leon “Gruts” and Elsie (Kilmer) Lopeman on October 25, 1949 at St. John's Hospital, Port Townsend, WA and passed away at Washington Veteran's Home in Port Orchard, WA.
He was raised in Hadlock, and graduated from Chimacum High School in 1967.
After graduation he attended school in Seattle, joining the United States Navy in January 1969, serving as a radioman during the Vietnam War until his discharge in 1975.
At that time he continued his schooling, eventually getting employment at Bank of America where he retired in 2005 . Moving back to Port Hadlock to live out his years surrounded by family and friends, until moving to Washington Veteran's Home in Port Orchard., August of 2022.
He is survived by his mother Elsie (Kilmer) Lopeman, siblings: Becky Fernandes, Chris (Janet) Lopeman, all of Hadlock and brother-in-law, Gary Buchillo of Sequim. Also four nieces and one nephew, numerous great nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father Leon “Gruts” Lopeman and sister Debbie Buchillo
In lieu of flowers, donations in his memory can be made to Chimacum Alumni Association, Scholarship Fund, PO Box 554 Chimacum Wa 98325. Inurnment will be at the Shine Cemetery, where he will be joining six generations of family
