Daniel J. Marcotte, 77, died at home on Wednesday, February 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family. He was the beloved husband of Susan M. (Shemchuk) Marcotte, with whom he was married 53 years.
Born in Lowell on September 3, 1947, he was the son of the late Irene (Rancourt) and Roger Marcotte. He worked for Lowell General Hospital at Saints Campus as a Special Police Officer for security for many years.
Daniel was an avid storyteller, whether it was one from his childhood, work or something he came across in his travels. He loved the outdoors and the solace he found during his 3:30 in the morning walks, where six miles was always a must. He also loved to garden, with tomatoes being his favorite to grow, even though he couldn’t eat them. Around the neighborhood especially and for anyone who knew him, Daniel was always there to lend a helping hand.
In addition to his wife Susan, Daniel is survived by his daughters, Amy Kuffel and her husband, Carmelo of Methuen and Danielle Erwin and her husband, Eric of Strafford, NH; his grandson, Emmett Kuffel; as well as many extended family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to Daniel’s Life Celebration on Tuesday, February 25, 2025 from 4 until 7 PM at the McKENNA-OUELLETTE FUNERAL HOME, 327 Hildreth Street, Lowell. His Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Wednesday at 10 AM at Ste. Marguerite D’Youville Church, Dracut. Burial will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Daniel’s memory to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105.
Please consider a donation as requested by the family.
