Daniel Marterella Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Edwards Memorial Funeral Homes - University Place on Jan. 31, 2026.
Daniel Richard Marterella, age 86, passed peacefully on January 5, 2026, in Puyallup, Washington. He was born on January 28, 1939, in Clintonville, Pennsylvania, and lived a life rooted in faith, family, hard work, and service to others.

Daniel proudly served his county in the United states Air Force from 1956 to 1960, a time he spoke of often and with great pride. Following his military service, he spent more than 40 years as a truck driver, known for his strong work ethic and dependability. Among his many accomplishments, he was especially proud to have helped pour the foundation of the new St. Josephs Hospital-leaving behind something solid and lasting the community.

Above all else, Daniel was a family man. He was a living father to Christopher and Richard, a cherished father-in-law to Kathrine, a proud grandfather to Marlaina, Leah, and Jerica, and a devoted great-grandfather to Kolton, Julia, Ashton, Avery, and Luca. Some of his happiest moments were spent hunting and fishing with his son Christopher, granddaughter Marlaina, and great-grandson Kolton-traditions that created memories his family will treasure forever.

Daniel had a deep love for gardening and found joy in bringing his family together each August to make pounds of homemade pesto, turning simple moments into lasting traditions filled with laughter and love.

He often described himself as a "hard-headed Italian," but those who knew him best saw a man with a big heat, a sharp sense of humor, and an unmatched ability to bring joy to everyone he met. His Catholic faith guided his life and values, shaping the way he loved, served, and cared for others.

Daniels legacy lives in through the mane live he touched and the family he held so dear. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered,.

A service honoring Daniel's life will be held at Tahoma National Cemetery on February 6, 2026, at 10:30a.m.
