Lynette Skinner Obituary

Obituary published on Legacy.com by Edwards Memorial Funeral Homes - University Place on Jan. 30, 2026.
Lynette "Lyn" Carol Buzzell Skinner 60

Lynette passed into the arms of Jesus after a courageous, hard-fought eight-year battle with cancer.

She was born in Whitefish, Montana, to Keith and Carol (Lietz) Buzzell, the youngest of four children. Lyn joined siblings Rick, Danny, and Dawn at the family home in Columbia Falls, Montana, where she grew up and graduated from Columbia Falls High School in 1983.

Shortly after graduation, Lyn moved to the Pacific Northwest, where she spent the rest of her life. In April of 1985, she married Robert Welch, and together they welcomed two children, the pride of her life, Michael and Geena. In 2003, Lyn married Todd Skinner and happily blended families, gaining three stepchildren: Adriane, Boone, and TJ.

Over the years, Lyn became highly skilled in all things business office - accounts payable and receivable, payroll, accounting, and human resources. Despite ongoing health challenges, she worked faithfully for Apex Engineering Company for 13 years until retiring in June of 2025.

Lynette had many passions. One of her greatest joys was turning their yard into what could only be called a world-class garden for everyone to enjoy. She was also a true foodie and an amazing cook - the more spice and flavor, the better! She leaves behind many beloved family recipes that will continue to be shared.

Lyn was never one to shy away from an adventure. From floating rivers and breast cancer walks to running, hiking, horseback riding, RV dry camping, tent camping, four-wheeling, roller coasters, and kayaking with Todd - always with Deezle, her Bernese Mountain Dog, and Lexie, the 9-pound ruler of the house, on board - she embraced life fully.

In recent years, Lyn trained to be a hospice volunteer. She had a heart full of empathy and compassion and was generous to a fault.

Three years ago, Lyn renewed her faith and relationship with Jesus Christ. She joined a local women's Bible study, began attending church, and found a mentor and dear friend in Laura.

Lynette is survived by her husband, Todd; her children Mike (Chelsea) Welch, Geena (Alex) Welch, Adriane (Jason) Wargo, Boone (Ali) Skinner, and TJ (Kelsey) Skinner; and her grandchildren: Mikey, Elsie, Raeleigh, Clint, Emilia, Jaxon, Ashtyn, Gracie, Eleanor, and Easton. She is also survived by her brother Rick (Linda) Buzzell of Kalispell, Montana, and her sister Dawn (Gary) Martin of Rathdrum, Idaho.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Keith and Carol Buzzell, and her brother Danny Buzzell.

A celebration of Lynette's life will be held on March 7 at 10:30 a.m. at Lake City Community Church 8810 Lawndale Ave SW, Lakewood, WA, 98498
