Daniel Lawrence Matras

Daniel Lawrence Matras, age 78, died February 19, 2025 surrounded by his children and daughter-in-law. 

Dan was a devoted husband and father, a graduate of Eastern Michigan University, an avid golfer, and a supporter of the Detroit Lions, Detroit Pistons, and Detroit Tigers. In 1969, Dan married his wife, Annette, to whom he was married until her passing in 2009. Dan worked for IBM in Detroit, Michigan, Cincinnati, Ohio, and Denver, Colorado for 35 years before retiring in 2004. He is survived by his children, Todd Matras (Alana Cooper) and Amy Matras, his sister, Elaine Chapman (Dick), his cousin, Larry Nikolai, his nephews, Scott Chapman (Sue), Rick Chapman (Tamara), and his niece Heather Gies (Joe).

A viewing will be held Monday, February 24 from 5-7 pm at Horan & McConaty, located at 1091 South Colorado Boulevard, Denver, Colorado. A funeral service will be held Tuesday, February 25 at 10:00 a.m. at Most Precious Blood Catholic Church, 3959 East Iliff Avenue, Denver, Colorado. A lunch will follow the funeral service at Perdida, 1066 South Gaylord Street, Denver, Colorado. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Animal Legal Defense Fund.
