Daniel "Dan" Joseph McCorison, 52, of Canyon, Minnesota died unexpectedly on November 23,2025 at Aspirus St. Luke's Hospital in Duluth, Minnesota. Dan was born on December 12, 1972, the son of George and Dorothy (Lamirande) McCorison. He grew up in the Duluth area and graduated from Duluth East High School. Dan held a variety of jobs with his last one being at U.S. Steel Minntac and he was also a small business owner. On August 28, 2004, he married the love of his life and best friend, Mary Jo (McMillen) McCorison and together they raised her three children. Dan's love for the kids was undeniable and his affection for them was unconditional. Years later they were blessed with seven grandchildren who were the light of his life.
Dan's undying love for his family, extended families, and friends will keep him close to those who loved him most. His Love for people and his kind, generous nature extended far beyond his own family. He enjoyed people like no other; especially watching them perform, show off their crafts, and most of all meeting them. Dan had a genuine appreciation for people and their talents. He never lost his affinity for all things festive and fun as many of us do as we get older, he was a kid at heart. Dan enjoyed the holidays, but he especially loved Halloween. In recent years, Dan started to make his own haunted Halloween attraction. Starting out as a small, haunted house for family and relatives to enjoy, Dan added to his project each year and soon his dream was a reality. October brought Dan's "Hellwig Hollow Experience" to life. Complete with the smells of fall, popcorn, hot cocoa, mini donuts, and long lines of people of all ages waiting to be frightened in the dark forest that he had created. Dan, along with the help of family and friends, had built something memorable. He was most happy seeing people having fun and Hellwig Hollow saw him at his best.
Dan is preceded in death by his father; an infant sister, Tami; brother, Thomas; mother-in-law, Mary Miotke; sister-in-law, Louann Isaacson; and brother-in-law, Chris Olson.
