Daniel Ray McCown

Daniel Ray McCown, known to family and friends as Dan, Danny Ray, Dan the Man, or Sweet Raymond, age 69, passed away Thursday, January 27, 2022. He was born in Longview, TX in 1952 and was the youngest of 3 sons born to Calvin & Helen McCown. Dan graduated from Longview High School in 1970 later attending Kilgore Junior College and earning a business degree from Southern Nazarene University. Dan enjoyed a successful career in banking and finance which provided him many fond memories and friends. This is also where he met the love of his life, Tracy. They married in February 1976 and had two children. Dan was a doting and supportive father whose playful sense of humor always came with an infectious grin. Among his hobbies and interests were Civil War history, baseball, Texas Longhorns football, good books, great movies, and attending Meadowood Baptist Church where he was an active member. Christmas was his favorite time of year and nothing made him happier than spending time with his family or enjoying a home cooked meal of spaghetti. He will be lovingly remembered by his family and many friends. He is preceded in death by his parents Calvin and Helen McCown; two brothers, Calvin McCown Jr. and Benny McCown; and in-laws, Jesse and Faye Ackley. Dan is survived by his loving wife of 46 years, Tracy of Yukon; son, Judson and wife Candice of Yukon; daughter, Elizabeth of Oklahoma City; two adored grandchildren; best friends, Max and Anna of Bella Vista, AR; brother-in-law, Curtis and wife Tammy of Longview, TX; cousin, Linda of Midwest City; along with many nieces, nephews, cousins, and his two spoiled puppies, Maggie and Lucy. A celebration of Dan's life will be held on Friday, February 4th, 2022 at 3pm, at Meadowood Baptist Church, located at 2816 N. Woodcrest in Midwest City.
