Daniel McDonough Obituary

Cincinnati, Ohio - Daniel James McDonough, 86, of Charlotte, NC, died 2-22-24 with his family at his side. Dan was born 9-21-37 in Cincinnati, OH to Dorothy Sims McDonough and Joseph McDonough.
Dan loved people, his dog Bubba, gardens, art, music, good food, history, travel, bridge, words, laughter and cookies. His garden is blooming gloriously this early spring in his honor. He earned a master's in philosophy, worked at IBM for many years and started his own company providing software to financial institutions. He volunteered for many worthy organizations with Roof Above being his favorite. When he was 72 he walked the Camino across Spain, enjoying every minute.
Dan is survived by his wife, Micki, his daughters Mary (Martyn) and Nancy (Steve), his sons Daniel and Edward (former wife Mary Kathryn), and his step-daughter Rebecca (Hans), eight wonderful grandchildren, and his only remaining brother, James. He was predeceased by his first wife, Helen Carter.
The funeral will be held Monday, June 24, 2 PM, at St. Peters Catholic Church at 507 S. Tryon, Charlotte, NC in Benedict Hall. Robertson Funeral and Cremation will have information about other arrangements as they become available.

Sorrow beyond words at the loss of your wonderful husband and father. To our Adam he was "Daddy Dan." Adam slept in your bathtub when I was in the hospital having Michael. Always room for him in your family. Precious happy memories.
