Daniel G. McGraw, age 72, of Erie, passed away peacefully in his home on Wednesday December 31, 2025. He was born in Erie PA on October 7, 1953, a son of the late William and Jeanne Bunny McGraw.
He graduated from Cathedral Prep class of 1971 and kept in touch with friends from his graduating class, meeting monthly for lunches, laughter and good times. He had a long career in Behavioral Health with over 20 years at Hamot, eventually retiring from the Barber National Institute. He was loved by his patients and his coworkers and was known to bring peace, kindness and a sense of humor to the workplace.
Dan enjoyed sports and was a faithful Cleveland Indians and Browns fan. He was a member of the Sunflower Club and would meet with friends there for football Sundays. You could also find him at Haggerty’s with a shot of Jameson and some scratch off tickets. He had a love for all genres of music and attending concerts but he especially loved The Grateful Dead and was often told that he looked like Jerry Garcia. Dan was an animal lover but dogs were his favorite and he quickly became best friends with all the dogs in his neighborhood. He loved collecting sports and music memorabilia and had an impressive bobblehead collection. Most importantly Dan loved his friends and family, especially his wife, Margaret who he was married to for 46 years.
Everyone who met Dan loved him because of his kindness and ability to make anyone feel like a friend. He had a personality that lit up a room and you knew you were going to have a fun time when he was around. He lived his life to the fullest and always had an optimistic outlook no matter what he was battling. His smile and sense of humor are going to be greatly missed.
He is survived by his wife: Margaret Masson McGraw; his children: Jeremy McGraw of Buffalo NY and Erin (Tim) Murphy of Erie; four grandchildren: Quinn McGraw, Dominique Conway, Declan Murphy and Brennan Murphy; two great grandchildren Brooklynn McGraw and Iris Pfund; his brother Dennis (Merila) McGraw and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
