Born in Crawfordsville to Garrold Eston and Mildred Lucille McIntire on March 6, 1946. He graduated from Crawfordsville High School in June of 1964 and entered the Naval Training Station in San Diego, CA in December of 1964. From there he was assigned to the guided-missile destroyer U.S.S. Buchanan as a marine mechanic. Following his honorable discharge from the Navy he enrolled in college at Indiana State. After graduating with a bachelor's degree, he was hired as a sales trainee with Lily-Tulip Corporation and was assigned to their Kansas City office. After transferring to their Houston office, he worked there until he resigned for a position at Chemical Express as a transportation salesman covering Houston, Beaumont and Port Arthur. After traveling the Golden Triangle area of Southeast Texas for a number of years, he moved back to Crawfordsville to be a caregiver for his mother. Dan was preceded in death by his father Garrold and his mother Mildred. He is survived by his brother David G. McIntire and his sister-in-law Norma J. Nelson who live in Cincinnati, OH. He is also survived by cousins Debbi McIntireStrack who lives in Carmel, IN and Loralee Paith Bennett who lives in Crawfordsville and niece Holly McIntire Robson and nephew-in-law Andy Robson who live in Baltimore, OH and nephew Stan Nelson McIntire and niece-in-law Amy Vanwassenhov McIntire who live in Mainville, OH.
Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 PM Monday at Hunt & Son Funeral Home with visitation beginning at 1:00. Burial will follow at Oak Hill Cemetery.
