Daniel Lee McKinney
Age 61 of Monroeville passed away on Wednesday, September 27, 2023 after a year and a half battle with Multiple Myeloma. Beloved husband of 36 years to Lynette Claire (Mashione) McKinney. Loving father of Megan (Zachary Anderson) McKinney and Mara (Jacob) Hartman; adored son of Marjorie (Les) Hardison and the late Regis William McKinney; brother of Timothy McKinney and Patricia McKinney; son-in-law of Anthony and Judith Mashione, Sr.; brother-in-law of Anthony (Laura) Mashione, Jr., Rachelle Mashione, and Cheryl (Michael) Vrcek; also survived by many nieces and nephews. From June 27, 1987 until his last breath, Dan was devoted to his family. He and Lynette were an inseparable team for 36 years, supporting their twin daughters through dance and cheerleading and everything that goes with school and college. Dan was a softball coach, travel chaperone, role model and Grade A Girl Dad. Their home was Dan's castle, and he took great pride in its maintenance, landscaping, and seasonal changes. Ammolee, Dan's German Shorthair, joined the family in 2017, completing and complementing his love of the outdoors. His hunting adventures included moose, bear, deer, turkey and game fowl - and he never met a camo pattern he didn't love. He enjoyed fishing, boating and time in the sun. He was as happy to spend time in a tree stand as he was for the annual family "Turkey Trot" before hosting Thanksgiving dinner. Whether hosting from home or planning a vacation abroad, Dan loved spending time with his family and friends. He could pack a truck for the beach house or a cabin in the woods like a true Tetris master. Planes, trains, pontoons, and motorcycles - he and Lynette enjoyed time with friends in Hawaii, Alaska and many places in the lower 48. Nothing ended a great day better than sipping a fine glass of bourbon with his family and friends. Whether you knew him as Danny, Daddy or Safety-Dan, he was a kind soul and a giving person. He was always present, and he was always up for any task. He frequently extended his automotive expertise to anyone who needed his help, whenever it was asked - "no problem" was his trade saying and it was always delivered with a genuine smile. He loved his family, his friends, and his life - he will be missed greatly by everyone who knew him. Friends will be received Sunday 1-7 PM at the JOBE FUNERAL HOME & CREMATORY, INC. (MONROEVILLE/PLUM CHAPEL) 445 Beatty Road, Monroeville (412-856-4747) where a blessing service will be Monday, 10:30 AM. Interment to follow at Good Shepherd Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Daniel McKinney Memorial Fund c/o, S&T Bank, 4580 Broadway Blvd., Monroeville, PA 15146. www.jobefuneralhome.com
