Daniel Minard, a beacon of intelligence, selflessness, wisdom, and love, passed away peacefully at his home on September 6, 2025, the very day that marked his 73rd year on this earth. Born in 1952 in Garden City, Michigan, Daniel's journey was one of purpose and passion, leaving a profound impact and an indelible mark on the hearts and minds of those who had the privilege of sharing in his life's adventure.
Married to his beloved wife Leslie since October 1981, Daniel's life was a testament to enduring love and companionship. Together with their son Nathaniel, they built a family on the principles of support, understanding, and boundless affection. Daniel was extremely proud of his son Nathaniel for achieving his goal of becoming a Police Deputy for the Office of Genesee County Sheriff. Daniel's sisters, Eileen (James) LaCasse, and Susan (Kay Yourist), also shared in the rich tapestry of his life. His cherished cat Sally was a constant source of comfort, always by his side, symbolizing the unwavering loyalty that Daniel himself exuded.
After graduating from Romulus High School, Daniel's educational journey continued at R.E.T.S in Detroit, Michigan, where he honed the skills that would see him become a respected Journeyman Electrician with the UAW. From there, he went on to work as a proposal engineer and industrial electrician for a number of companies; including, Lamb Technicon, Saturn Corporation, Comau Pico, Kuka Systems, and Easom Automation. His extraordinary work ethic and profound dedication to his craft were evident in over four decades of work in the automation industry, culminating in a well-deserved retirement in 2018. Daniel's professional life was not just about personal achievement, but also about contributing to the community through his involvement with Cub Scouts and the Parent Teacher Organization at Martell Elementary and Smith Middle School.
His interests were as varied as they were deep. A past member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton in Troy, Michigan, Daniel built on his faith while performing with the church's ensemble of musicians. An accomplished guitarist, his lifelong musical talents were a source of joy and inspiration, not just for him but for all who heard him play. Landscaping was another canvas for his creativity, where he and Leslie took part in the beautification of their and many other gardens, sharing their love of nature and animals with others from Troy and neighboring communities.
Though he was preceded in death by his mother Dolores Minard (McManman), his brother Stephen Minard, and his uncle Donald McManman, Daniel's spirit continues to resonate with the family he loved dearly. His life was a journey of discovery, growth, and joy-a journey that did not end with his passing but will continue to inspire and motivate all who remember him.
